Once Upon a Time Atom Tales

STORY

This series is another saga of Astro Boy depicted through his own eyes.

On a spring day in 2017, Astro Boy is caught in an underwater explosion and meets Scala, a female alien resembling a bug. Scala shares that she escaped from her planet by boarding a spaceship because she was fed up with her married life. As Astro heads downtown on his way home, he finds himself time-slipped into the year 1959, 50 years in the past. Devastated by being left alone in this past era, he decides to live with Scala, who also has no acquaintances there.

The challenge they face is that electric chargers have not yet been developed, and Astro is unable to recharge himself. To solve this problem, he visits Dr. Thrill, an acquaintance of Higeoyaji, and young Dr. Ochanomizu. Then, Astro comes to witness past wars as well as robot development, from the time of his creation by Dr. Tenma till his rebirth.
