He was the scientist who appeared in virtually all the early sci-fi works and his abundant white whiskers, kindly face and potbelly were legendary. His personality made him perfect for the role of prologue narrator. Although even Atom once took on the role of a villain who harbored murderous designs against others, Dr. Hanamaru was never tainted by an outing on the road of the reprobate and continued to perform as a good-natured man.
