One night, a boy named Ichiro Kitamura, who goes by the nickname Icchi, witnesses a strange gathering that resembles a protest march. Curious, he approaches the crowd, only to discover that it is a group of ghosts. Terrified, he runs away from them in a panic.
During his escape, Icchi encounters a newspaper reporter named Honda. He shares his experience with Honda, but the reporter tells him that he cannot use the story for an article. Honda then asks Icchi whether he believes in the existence of ghosts, expressing that he does not outright deny the possibility of spiritual phenomena.
Tragically, the following day, Honda dies in a car accident. Shortly after, Icchi encounters a curse from the very ghosts that frightened him, leading to his death. In the world after his death, Icchi finds himself in a realm divided into three factions, where all are engaged in a war. He witnesses people involved in resistance activities against governments, all striving for a better life.

The common perception of ghosts in Japan is that they lack feet, and Icchi, the main character of the story, believes that the mysterious gathering he sees is a group of ghosts because he cannot see their feet.
This is a surprising tale of ghosts who have fled to Japan to resist forces attempting to control them, while also exploring fundamental themes that never fade.
