DESCRIPTIONS

1960/08 Appeared in Shukan Shonen Sunday Summer Issue (Shogakukan)

The technique of portraying each character's mental state and actions within a confined space is commonly used in horror and sci-fi films. For example, the movie "Alien" effectively heightened fear and tension by setting its story in a completely enclosed spaceship. Similarly, "The Thing" generated skepticism and conflict through the characters' unseen fears. While this story may seem simple, featuring only seven crew members, without dramatic monsters or major Tezuka characters, it represents an authentic sci-fi narrative that reflects Tezuka's intention to create genuine storytelling.
Talking about Black Jack, he is confined in various places, such as a shelter under the basement, an elevator, and a cave. Such settings may be suitable for short stories.
