Ode to Kirihito

STORY

Monmou Disease is a rare illness that occurs only in Inugamizawa Village located deep in the mountains of Shikoku. Patients suffering from this illness experience severe headaches, an intense craving for raw meat, paralysis, and bone deformities that ultimately result in a dog-like appearance. As the disease progresses, patients also encounter respiratory difficulties and eventually die. Kirihito Osanai, a young and enthusiastic doctor studying the disease, travels to the village at the request of Dr. Tatsugaura , a professor at M University Hospital also researching it. However, Osanai soon contracts the illness to transform into a dog-like creature and is forced to endure hardship and agony.
The story also involves the power struggles within the medical community, raising questions about the role of medicine and the responsibilities of doctors.
