A princess was born in a castle. At her first birthday, twelve fairies were invited to the castle to bless her. The uninvited thirteenth fairy, however, became angry and cursed the princess. In her fifteenth year, from the princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die, she said. The twelve fairies were only able to soften the curse so that the princess would not die, but would sleep for a hundred years. The king burned all the spinning wheels in the country except the one, which had been put away in the attic of the castle.
This is a story by the Grimm brothers, known by the title "Sleeping Beauty" in Japan. Tezuka Osamu has made no alterations here, but has faithfully summarized the original story.
