Little Rabi Goes to the Moon
STORY
Little Rabi was such a sissy that he was constantly bullied by a mean fox in the woods. One day, a man visited Little Rabi and asked him, "Little Rabi, would you go to the moon in a rocket?" "No, I'm scared!" replied Little Rabi. At the end, however, he was put on board a rocket. Little Rabi was even crying inside the rocket, but Usa-chan, a robot and the pilot cheered him up and they arrived on the moon. Because the gravity of the moon was only one-sixth of the gravity on earth, soon Little Rabi was able to lift a big rock with one hand. "You are in fact very strong" the robot rabbit whispered, so Little Rabi returned to the Earth full of confidence.
DESCRIPTIONS
Tezuka Osamu was bullied as a child himself. This is why many of his cartoons concern, "How a bullied child regains his confidence". Atom, the astro boy, is bullied because he is a robot. Leo, the lion, is excluded by the other animals just because he can speak to humans. People chase Princess Sapphire (disguised as a prince), saying "We bet you are a woman!" Most people regard Black Jack, the unlicensed doctor, as strange because of the scar on his face... The leading characters of Tezuka Osamu's cartoons are all bullied. Little Rabi is no exception. "You are not a coward! You can be strong", is the message Tezuka Osamu wanted to send to all children.
