Shiga prefecture’s Museum of Modern Art opened its “Osamu Tezuka Exhibition” on Saturday, July 12, 2014, and it will run until August

Osamu Tezuka is also known as the “God of Manga.”  His numerous characters are not only famous in Japan, but in countries all over the world even 20 years after his death. His most famous masterpiece, “Astro Boy” celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 .  Osamu Tezuka’s later work, “Buddha,” an epic story he wrote over the course of 10 years, was made into a movie in 2011.

The exhibition will start with carefully selected pieces created by Tezuka including video animations and original works from “Astro Boy”, “Buddha”, “The Phoenix”, “Black Jack”, “Jungle Emperor Leo”, and “Princess Knight.”  It will also include some of his favorite pieces and other products, and will work to convey Tezuka’s message of looking to the future.
