A part of the newly discovered Tezuka’s drawings kept in his desk is firstly displayed at the Exhibition: The Power of Manga – Osamu Tezuka and Shotato Ishinomori, held at the Miyagi Museum of Art. Also some new materials about Shotaro Ishinomori are firstly opened to public at the exhibition.
Manga which gives us dreams, hopes and courage is loved all over the world as a culture originated from Japan, and Osamu Tezuka known as God of Manga and Shotaro Ishinomori known as King of Manga are the two indispensable figures in the post-war history of Manga. .
The exhibition aims to explore the origin of Manga through tracking these two artists’ history, messages embedded in their works and original manuscripts and films of their major works such as “Astro Boy”, “Black Jack”, and “Cyborg 009”. The exhibition also includes several homage works to these two great manga artists created by notable today’s artist.
Plus, the highlights of the exhibition include a reproduction of Tokiwa Apartment where many manga artists who became famous later, including Osamu Tezuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Fujio Akatsuka, Fujiko F Fujio and Fujiko A Fujio, lived in.

Workshop: Hirogaru Miraitoshi
During the exhibition period above, visitors can make up models of their imaginative buildings and vehicles in future with paper and wooden materials prepared by the museum, and each work is displayed in the future city embodied in the Sosaku Gallery room. The more people participate in the workshop, the further the future city is expanded!
