  • He was the semi-scoundrel of the early works who seemed to take on all media-related roles single-handedly, playing aggressive editors, magazine journalists and television reporters. His trademark was the cigar (sometimes cigarette) that he always had stuck between his lips. He had a slightly foolish-looking face, but if he was often up to no good he was also on hand to lend wisdom to the stars, and this magnanimity was part of his charm.
